Gold, White Earn Decisive Wins

The NOW Prospects Major Combine began as it normally does-with practice. The four teams split into groups of two to skate with Minnesota Golden Gopher assistant coach Scott Bell on Wednesday morning, rotating between on-ice practice and a seminar on using social media.

After a quick lunch, the teams hit the ice for the first set of five-on-five games of the week.

A four-goal, five-point performance by Player of the Game Jimmy Clark carried Gold to a 16-5 win over Grey in the first game of the afternoon.

Gold jumped out to a monstrous 9-0 lead over Grey, with goals coming from Kyle Ahlschlager, Charlie Hoch, Tommy Cronin, Aidan Willis and Beckett Hendrickson. Aaron Reierson and Jimmy Clark each scored twice during that stretch of dominance by Gold.

Grey interrupted the barrage with a goal by Charlie Olsen, which was answered by Gold's Tate Pritchard. Olsen would score twice for Grey, with single goals coming from Austin Burnevik, Brady Arneson, and Harper Bentz.

In addition, to Clark's four goals, Cronin, McCann, and Willis all scored twice, with Charlie Hoch, Kyle Ahlschlager, Beckett Hendrickson, Mason Leimbek, Tate Pritchard, and Ty Hanson all scoring one goal each.

While Gold and Grey duked it out on the ice, White and Maroon took in a lecture on nutrition from a University of Minnesota nutritionist before engaging in their own game. Landen Gunderson scored four times to close out the first half for White, with the first goal scored by Finn Brink.

The game evened out in the second half, with each team scoring twice for a final tally of 7-2 in favor of White. Carter Krenke and Grant Kohnen scored in the loss for Maroon, while Hunter Hady tacked on both final goals for White.

Players To Watch

Jimmy Clark, Gold

Clark racked up four goals for Gold on Wednesday, displaying a smooth handle and scorer's touch throughout the game.

Landen Gunderson, White

Like Clark, Gunderson also scored four times on Wednesday. Gunderson's goals came in rapid succession, thanks to a quick shot and a patience around the net.

Kyle Henke, Grey

Despite being on the losing end of a 16-5 shellacking, Henke played solid defense for Grey, muscling opponents off the puck and playing an effective puck-rusher when necessary.

Tate Pritchard, Gold

Pritchard made smart plays with the puck throughout Wednesday's game, showcasing a knack for weaving through the neutral zone.

Devin Cardenas, Maroon

Cardenas used his speed throughout Wednesday's loss, creating chances off the rush and handling the puck with ease.
