Leprechaun Days 2018: Championship Sunday

Czech B, Jr. Eagles, Crown Hockey take titles at The Pond.

Peewee: Czech B Team 9, FHDCH 8

The Czech B team managed to hold off a late charge by FHDCH to capture the Peewee championship on Sunday in Rosemount, edging the Faribault and Dodge County-based team 9-8. 

Ozzie Snodgrass netted three goals in the win for the Czech B team en route to being named Most Valuable Player. Dylan Herold chipped in with a pair of goals, while FHDCH was led by three-goal performances by Brett Ludbvigson and Gryffon Funke. 

Funke led the tournament in scoring with 16 goals in five games.

12U: Crown Hockey 17, Spartacats 7

Crown Hockey rolled to the 12U title with a 17-7 win over the Spartacats, a game played much more closely than the on-paper matchup previously indicated. 

Lily Fetch and Ava Krikorian continued their torrid scoring pace for Crown, each netting five goals in the win. Krikorian concluded the tournament as the 12U Division's leading scorer with an impressive 25 tallies, followed by Fetch's total of 24. 

For her part defensively, goaltender Victoria Steinke was named Most Valuable Player. 

Cailynne Thomas scored three goals in the loss for the Spartacats.

Squirt B/Squirt C: Jr. Eagles 15, CBNC 10

The Jr. Eagles scored five consecutive goals midway through the game to pull away from Corned Beef N' Cabbage in the Leprechaun Days finale, with the tournament culminating in a 15-10 win for the team based out of Apple Valley. 

Jackson Meier tied for the lead among all skaters with five goals in the win for the Jr. Eagles, finishing the tournament with 20 goals, second only to teammate Reed Smith's 22 scores. For his efforts, Smith was named Most Valuable Player. 

Channing Goodwin also scored five goals in the loss for Corned Beef N' Cabbage.
