Oshie Makes Stop After Warroad Visit

Not to be outdone by Super Bowl champion Matt Birk the previous week, 2018 Stanley Cup winner and Warroad High School product T.J. Oshie made an appearance at the MAP Hockey campus in Mendota Heights on Tuesday afternoon.

The visit to the St. Thomas Academy Ice Arena was sandwiched between the Cup’s travels to Warroad and Minneapolis, where Oshie held a private party for invited guests.

Oshie captured Class A state championships for Warroad in 2003 and 2005, capping his prep career with 37 goals and 99 points during the 2004-2005 season for the Warriors. Oshie was drafted in the first round, 24th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

From Warroad, Oshie advanced to the United States Hockey League’s Sioux Falls franchise for 11 games before spending three seasons with the University of North Dakota before making the jump to the NHL.

Oshie’s appearance drew an impressive crowd, including virtually all MAP Hockey athletes.

Oshie hosts his own version of Meet the Press on Tuesday in Mendota Heights.
