The Bantam Elite League returns to St. Thomas Ice Arena for a pair of midweek battles.

Game One: Kings 5, Penguins 2

A three-goal lead nearly evaporated for the Kings on Wednesday night, as the Penguins scored twice early in the second half before the royal family passed a two-goal decree.

Roy Johnson scored the first goal of the game for the Kings, with goals from Anthony Madigan and Nathan Hardy following. The Kings' third goal came off an unfortunate swipe at the puck by the Penguins, resulting in an own-goal near the end of the first half. Kings goaltender Croix Kochendorfer stopped all six shots he faced in the first, while Penguins goaltender Liam Sebek finished with nine saves on 12 shots.

Alexander Bump scored 17 seconds into the second half to put the Penguins on the board, and Burkholder followed with his third goal of the BEL season to pull the Pens within one goal at 3-2. The teams seesawed their way into the final minutes of the game, with the Penguins pressuring and the Kings responding with their own lengthy possessions.

Unfortunately for the Penguins, the Kings hopped off the seesaw and let the Pens crash to the ground, as Kevin Odlaug extended the lead to 4-2 and Madigan cashed in his second goal less than 20 seconds later for the 5-2 final.

Kings forward Anthony Madigan scored two goals on Wednesday night.

Game Two Sharks 5, Bruins 2

The Sharks rebounded after a 2-2 run in Bemidji with a resounding 5-2 win over the Bruins in Wednesday's nightcap, with Bennett Glad leading the way with two goals and two assists.

Both of Glad's goals came in the first half, powering the Sharks to a 2-0 lead. In his Player of the Game interview after the win, he credited his breakfast of Captain Crunch for giving him the energy required to score. As usual, Christian Manz turned in a sparkling performance in goal for the Sharks in the first half, stopping all 18 shots he faced.

Max Nagel cut the Sharks' lead in half at 2-1 early in the second half, a squeak that was answered with a three-goal roar by the Sharks. William Matzke, scored just over a minute after Nagel, and Nate Heithoff tallied two goals after Matzke's to give the Sharks a comfortable 5-1 lead. Luke Savage popped in a final goal for the Bruins.

Bennett Glad scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Sharks to a win on Wednesday night.
