Myah Krueger scores for JM Friday night

Boys will be boys

Luke Myers, John Marshall

The play was fast and furious Friday. Grand Rapids Major boys got two wins, one in a shootout and another by the skin of their teeth. Charlie Brandt made a few heroic late stops to preserve their win over Edina.  John Marshall and Grand Rapids both had wins at the Minor level...they face off Saturday morning.

Three familiar faces took home three stars Friday. Many honorable mentions including Brittan Alstead (Duluth East Major), Marcus Fechko (Grand Rapids Major) and Danny Klaers (Duluth East Minor).

Friday's Three Stars

1. Danny Nelson (Duluth East/Major) - Had five goals and an assist including a game tying goal in the final seconds of game one versus Grand Rapids.

2. Luke Myers (John Marshal/Minor) - dominated play with his strength and high hockey IQ. Finished the night with a goal and two assists.

3. Junior Podein (Grand Rapids/Minor) - slight of size, huge of heart...Podein took over the game when he took the ice. Had two points in GR's win Friday.

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

Kendra Distad, Duluth East had a big Friday

Don't take your eyes off the girls action in Bloomington...a ton of close games and a  log jam in the standings at Majors. Edina fell to John Marshall in game one and fought back to a nice win in game two over a 1-0 Duluth East team in the nightcap. The Minor Girls has a favorite out of the gate...Southwest, they won their first game 4-1 and will face three tough tests down the stretch.

Friday's Three Stars

1.  Josie St. Martin (Grand Rapids/Major)...superb puck handler, took over the game for GR Friday...had two goals in big win.

2. Sawyer Fleming (Southwest/Minor)...a powerful combination of speed and strength, Fleming had a goal and an assist their win.

3. Izy Fairchild (Duluth East/Major)...one of two players to record a hat trick Friday. Great skater, with great ambition in the dirty areas.
