Duluth East's Ryder Donovan carries a 'B' rating, meaning he is a candidate that could be selected as high as the second round.

Former Moorhead standout and current Green Bay Gambler Ethan Frisch received a 'C' rating from NHL Central Scouting.

Two Minnesotans Receive 'B' Rating

Each fall, the NHL Central Scouting service provides a preliminary list of the players that they have deemed worthy of extra attention during the season before next June's NHL Draft.

The list changes throughout the season, as players rise or fall based on performance, injury, or issues off the ice.

This season, two Minnesotans have been bestowed a 'B' rating, indicating that they could be a second or third-round pick. Those players are Centennial standout defenseman Will Francis, who recently committed to Minnesota-Duluth, and Duluth East forward Ryder Donovan. Donovan, a North Dakota commit, totaled 48 assists and 62 points last season for the Class AA state runner-up Greyhounds.

Outside of Donovan and Francis, the other United States high school players with 'B' ratings include Massachusetts skaters John Farinacci (Dexter School) and Jayden Struble (St. Sebastian's), along with New Hampshire's Arlo Merritt (Kimball Union).

Notable players that have been rated as first-round talents include Arthur Kaliyev of the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs,  defenseman Nolan Foote of the WHL's Kelowna Rockets, and NTDP standouts Matt Boldy and projected No. 1 overall pick, Jack Hughes.

USNTDP standout Jack Hughes is projected as the NHL Draft's No. 1 overall pick in June.
