PWB: Osseo-Maple Grove Sinks Minnetonka

Osseo-Maple Grove rode its bruising defensive corps to a workingman's 4-1 victory over Minnetonka in Sunday's Peewee B Gobbler championship game.

The Leafbirds outmuscled the Skippers for three periods, beginning their march to the trophy with two goals in the first period from Jacob Sawicky and Lukas Bakke. Minnetonka's Winston Wheaton scored between the Leafbird tallies, his sixth goal of the tournament.

Eli Larson and Brady Aubut scored in the second period for Osseo-Maple Grove, stretching the Leafbird lead to 4-1. Goaltender Cameron Dreifke stood tall between the pipes to earn the win for the Leafbirds.

Tournament Most Valuable Player honors were awarded to Lukas Bakke and Karsten Kautzman for their outstanding play. Kautzman ended the tournament tied for second in scoring with two goals and seven total points.

Winston Wheaton (14) scored the lone goal of Sunday's loss for Minnetonka.

BB: Minnetonka Takes Sting Out Of Edina

In 1878, John Moses Browning began his humble beginnings as one of the leading rifle manufacturers in the world, evolving into the mega-corporation that it is today.

On November 25, 2018, another Browning made his mark on, this one on a hockey rink in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Harrison Browning scored with 3:50 left in regulation to lift Minnetonka to its second consecutive Gobbler Bantam B title, edging District 6 foe Edina Green 2-1. Jack Sand scored the first goal for the Skippers midway through the first period, a 1-0 advantage that was erased six minutes later by Edina Green's Lucas Cole.

The teams battled defensively for the second period, with said neutral zone play stopping either side to gain any significant momentum.

Minnetonka's Gavin Garry was named Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Bantam B division with five goals and seven total points.
