2019 Squirtacular Champions - Chaska Chanhassen

The Chaska Chan Stormhawks pulled off a double-salchow, winning both the Squirt A and B title Sunday in Blaine, both in dramatic fashion. First the Squirt B Gold beat the Thunder Bay 82's 3-2 in a shootout. Zoe Zielinski capped off the shootout with a pretty shot top-shelf goal to seal the win, helping her earn tourney MVP after the game. The Squirt A team completed the second revolution getting their win 2-1 in regulation over top-ranked Mahtomedi - just barely. Logan Smith scored on a loose puck in front of the net and flew to center ice after in a highly-rated post-goal celebration. Smith was named MVP following the game.

After scoring two third period goals by their top two players Levi Lucas and Kieran Lemmetty, Thunder Bay forced overtime. After both teams tried mightily, neither scored in overtime forcing a shootout. Quinn Reding and Zielinski both scored in the shootout - Mikey Parrington stopped Lemmetty and Lucas to seal the win.

Chaska-Chanhassen led for most of the game until Mahtomedi's Casper Lang scored with four seconds remaining in the second period to tie it. Lang fired a shot from the point that appeared to have deflected off of something past Stormhawk goalie Grant Atterson. After a great back-and-forth battle in the third where both teams had juicy chances, Smith was able to squeeze a puck past a sprawling Jackson Chesak to seal the win.
